2006 Silver Proof Fifty Pence Two Coin Set ‘The Victoria Cross 1856-2006’ in Near Mint Condition.
These are commemorative coins marking the 150th anniversary of the institution of the Victoria Cross.
These fifty pence coins come complete in a hard Burgundy box and certificate as issued by the royal mint.
There is minor tarnishing, as seen in pictures.
These 2006 coins are struck in .925 silver with a proof finish by the Royal Mint. Proof coins are hand-finished to create a flawless effect, and are often struck multiple times with specially prepared dies to achieve a mirrored finish and clarity of detail.
The obverse features the portrait of Elizabeth II facing to the right. The reverse images are different, one features a Soldier carrying a wounded comrade against a silhouette of the Victoria Cross, the other features a depiction of both sides of a Victoria Cross medal.
The weight of the coins are 8 grams of .925 silver each.
