2006 Piedfort Silver Proof Fifty Pence Two Coin Set ‘The Victoria Cross 1856-2006’ in Near Mint Condition.

These are commemorative coins marking the 150th anniversary of the institution of the Victoria Cross.

These fifty pence coins come complete in a hard Burgundy box and certificate as issued by the royal mint. The box has shelf wear, this can be seen in the pictures.

These coins have been photographed inside the capsule and have not been handled, there is minor tarnishing on some coins.

These 2006 coins are struck in .925 silver with a proof finish by the Royal Mint. Proof coins are hand-finished to create a flawless effect, and are often struck multiple times with specially prepared dies to achieve a mirrored finish and clarity of detail.

The obverse features the portrait of Elizabeth II facing to the right. The reverse images are different, one features a Soldier carrying a wounded comrade against a silhouette of the Victoria Cross, the other features a depiction of both sides of a Victoria Cross medal.

Piedfort coins are specifically struck coins that are typically twice the thickness and weight of standard coins of the same denomination.

The weight of the coins are 16 grams of .925 silver each.

You will receive two Piedfort Silver Fifty Pence coins in the set.

You will receive the 2006 set in the pictures.
