The 1983 half sovereign is a coin struck in 22 carat gold as a proof by the Royal Mint. The Obverse features the second crowned portrait of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, with legend around. The Reverse features St. George slaying the dragon right, with date and designer’s initials in exergue.
