The reverse features a bust of Hidalgo surrounded by captions indicating the value of the coin, the year of issue, circled by the same beading on the front.
Although the mintage figures for this coin suggest 48,000 a further 1,767,645 were restruck between 1955 and 1972 (most of these were dated 1955).
