The Five Pesos coin was stuck in 0.900 gold by the Mexican Mint. The obverse features the Coat of arms of Mexico. Top caption surrounding the eagle. Encompassed by a step beading. The reverse features a bust of Hidalgo surrounded by captions indicating the value of the coin, the year of issue, circled by the same beading on the front.
Although the mintage figures for this coin suggest 48,000 a further 1,767,645 were restruck between 1955 and 1972 (most of these were dated 1955).
