The 1950 George VI Proof Scottish Shilling coin was struck by the Royal Mint in the United Kingdom during the George VI era (1936-1952).  This proof coin is struck in higher quality than the circulated coin.  Both an English and Scottish shilling were issued in 1950.  The reverse of the Scottish shilling features a crowned Scottish lion.  A bare head of King George VI  appears on the Obverse.

Scottish shillings are rarer than the English shillings because fewer were minted, the official mintage of the Scottish issue was 17,513.
