1930 King George V Silver Maundy Fourpence Coin In Good Very Fine Or Better Condition.

There are surface marks on the obverse of this coin.

This coin comes in a plastic coin envelope.

The 1930 maundy fourpence is a coin struck in 0.500 silver by the Royal Mint. The Obverse features the uncrowned portrait of king George V facing left, with legend around.  The Reverse of this coin depicts a crowned denomination dividing date within an oak wreath.

Maundy money is struck in denominations of one penny, twopence, threepence, and fourpence. Until the 18th century the coins were given from the circulating coinage, and it was not until the latter half of the century that the four Maundy coins developed as distinct, noncirculating pieces. In most years there are fewer than 2,000 complete sets of Maundy money issued.
