The 1928 silver Florin is a coin struck in 0.500 silver by the Royal Mint. There is an uncrowned portrait of King George V on the Obverse with legend around. The Reverse of this coin is completed by the cruciform crowned sceptres around central G, shields of England, Scotland and Ireland in angles, with legend above, date and denomination below.
The florin was introduced in 1849 as part of the British coinage’s move towards decimalization. This coin was worth 1/10th of a pound or 2 shillings. It was more commonly known as the 2 shilling coin. It is equivalent to the current ten pence coin.
