This part Maundy set includes the Fourpence, Threepence & Twopence coins.
These coins were struck in 0.925 silver by the Royal Mint. Each coin features the uncrowned portrait of King George V facing left with the legend around on the obverse. The reverse of each coin features the crowned denomination dividing the date within an oak wreath.
Maundy money is struck in denominations of one penny, twopence, threepence, and fourpence. Until the 18th century the coins were given from the circulating coinage, and it was not until the latter half of the century that the four Maundy coins developed as distinct, noncirculating pieces. In most years there are fewer than 2,000 complete sets of Maundy money issued.
