1912 King George V Silver Florin Coin In Near Mint Condition.

This is a high grade coin with sharp details, the coin has a dark toned look. There are extremely light contact / surface marks on both sides of this coin.

The 1912 silver Florin is a coin struck in 0.925 silver by the Royal Mint.  There is an uncrowned portrait of King George V facing left, on the obverse, with legend around. The reverse is completed with the crowned cruciform shields around central Garter star, sceptres in angles, with denomination above, and divided date below.

The florin was introduced in 1849 as part of the British coinage’s move towards decimalization. This coin was worth 1/10th of a pound or 2 shillings. It was more commonly known as the 2 shilling coin. It is equivalent to the current ten pence coin.
