This gold 10 Corona coin was struck in 0.900 gold and weighs approx. 3.39 grams.

The 1909 Austrian gold 10 Corona coin features a bare headed aged portrait of Emperor Franz Joseph I and a signature below the bust.  There were two different issues of the 1909 coin, this is reference KM#2816 – you will see the lettering completely surrounding the coin.  The reverse shows a double-headed imperial eagle, the heraldic bird of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. The eagle holds a sword and scepter in its right talon, and a cross-bearing orb in its left. The Hapsburg emperors chose the double-headed eagle because they believed it could look both east and west at the same time, towards both sides of their empire.  The coins value and date are in both roman characters above and in numbers below.

This 1909 Austrian gold coin had a low mintage figure of only 192,135.  This coin appears in the standard catalogue of world coin as reference KM#2816.
