1902 Matt Proof Edward VII Coronation Set – Thirteen Coins.
This set is in near mint condition. Some light toning is starting to appear on a few of the silver coins. There are extremely light contact marks on some of the coins. There is a dark silver look to the maundy coins and the sixpence.
These coins come presented in the original red dated box as issued by the Royal Mint. The back of the red box has a small scuff mark.
The 1902 Edward VII Matt Proof Coronation Set is a 13-coin set of gold and silver coins, produced in 1902 to commemorate the King’s coronation. The set, which includes four gold and nine silver coins feature the uncrowned portrait of King Edward VII facing right, with legend around. The reverse featuring St. George on horseback slaying the dragon, with the date and engraver’s initials in exergue.
There are four gold coins in this set. The four gold coins are as follows. Gold Five Pounds, Gold Two Pounds, Gold Full Sovereign & Gold Half Sovereign.
There are nine silver coins in this set. The nine silver coins are as follows. Silver Crown, Silver Halfcrown, Silver Florin, Silver Shilling & Silver Sixpence. The Maundy Silver Fourpence, Maundy Silver Threepence, Maundy Silver Twopence and the Maundy Silver Penny.
