1901 Victoria Old Head Silver Halfcrown Coin In Near Mint Condition.

This is a nice example with sharp details. There are extremely light surface marks and tiny edge nicks on both sides of this silver coin.

The 1901 Old head also know as the veiled head Halfrown is a coin struck in 0.925 silver by the Royal Mint. This was the final date made in the Victoria era. This old head design was used between 1893 and 1901.  The obverse features a crowned, veiled, and draped bust of Queen Victoria facing right. The engraver’s initials, “T.B.”, are under the bust, which stands for Sir Thomas Brock. With the legend around.  The Reverse features a crowned, spade-shaped shield of royal arms within a ring. The date is below the shield and is divided by a small image of St George & the dragon. The legend reads “FID · DEF · IND · IMP” with “HALF CROWN” divided by the date.

This silver halfcrown had a mintage figure of 1,516,570.
