The 1898 Old head also know as the veiled head Halfrown is a coin struck in 0.925 silver by the Royal Mint. The obverse features a crowned, veiled, and draped bust of Queen Victoria facing right. The engraver’s initials, “T.B.”, are under the bust, which stands for Sir Thomas Brock. With the legend around. The Reverse features a crowned, spade-shaped shield of royal arms within a ring. The date is below the shield and is divided by a small image of St George & the dragon. The legend reads “FID · DEF · IND · IMP” with “HALF CROWN” divided by the date.
