The 1897 gold ten dollar coin was minted in Philadelphia by Christian Gobrecht, who designed both the obverse and reverse. The obverse features a bust of Liberty surrounded by 13 stars and the date below the neck. The reverse depicts an eagle holding arrows and an olive branch, with the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “TEN D” surrounding it. A scroll above the eagle’s head displays a new motto.
