The 1893 Old head Silver Crown, also know as the Queen Victoria vailed head crown is a silver coin struck by the Royal Mint.  There are two different edge date inscriptions in Roman numerals for this year.  This coin has the regnal date of LVI.  This coin was struck in 0.925 silver.  The Obverse features the effigy of the old head or vailed head Queen Victoria.  St George on horseback slaying the dragon completes the Reverse designed by Benedetto Pistrucci.  This particular Obverse design was only used on these coins between the dates 1893 & 1901 and was the last of the Victorian portraits.

This 1893 LVI silver crown had a mintage figure of 497,845.
