This coin has been well used with the obverse in fair condition, the reverse is closer to fine condition.

This coin comes in a plastic coin envelope.

The 1849 florin is a coin struck in 0.925 silver by the Royal Mint. The Obverse features a crowned bust of Queen Victoria facing left, wearing a dress embroidered with roses, shamrocks, and thistles, with the engraver’s initials “WW” to the right of the bust. The inscription “VICTORIA REGINA 1849” is in Gothic type.

The Reverse features crowned cruciform shields of England, Ireland, and Scotland, with emblems at alternate angles and a rose at the centre. The denomination legend is “ONE FLORIN” in the upper half and “ONE TENTH OF A POUND” in the lower half.

The florin was introduced in 1849 as part of the British coinage’s move towards decimalization. This coin was worth 1/10th of a pound or 2 shillings. It was more commonly known as the 2 shilling coin. It is equivalent to the current ten pence coin.

This 1849 godless silver florin coin had a mintage figure of 413,820.
