The 1835 maundy penny is a coin struck in 0.925 silver by the Royal Mint. The Obverse features the uncrowned portrait of King William IV facing right, with legend around. The Reverse of this coin depicts a central crowned denomination above the date, within oak wreath.

Maundy money is struck in denominations of one penny, twopence, threepence, and fourpence. Until the 18th century the coins were given from the circulating coinage, and it was not until the latter half of the century that the four Maundy coins developed as distinct, noncirculating pieces. In most years there are fewer than 2,000 complete sets of Maundy money issued.
