The 1834 maundy fourpence is a coin struck in 0.925 silver. This coin was issued by King William IV during his final year of reign as part of the four coin maundy set. The Obverse features the uncrowned portrait of the king. The Reverse of this coin depicts a crowned denomination dividing date within an oak wreath.
Maundy money is struck in denominations of one penny, twopence, threepence, and fourpence. Until the 18th century the coins were given from the circulating coinage, and it was not until the latter half of the century that the four Maundy coins developed as distinct, noncirculating pieces.
