The 1826 penny was struck in copper by the Royal Mint. The obverse side of the coin Features the laureate portrait of King George IV facing left, with legend around, and the date 1826 below. The reverse side of the coin depicts Britannia seated facing right holding a trident and resting her right hand on a shield. A rose, thistle, and shamrock are united in the exergue.
