The 1817 shilling was a coin struck in 0.925 silver in London by the Royal Mint under the reign of King George III. The Obverse features a laureate bust of King George III facing right with the date below. This portrait is sometimes referred to as the “Bull head”. The Reverse is completed with the crowned shield of royal arms with the arms of the House of Hanover in the centre.
