1812 King George III Silver Three Shillings Bank Token Coin In Near Extremely Fine Condition.

There are surface marks on the reverse of this coin.

This coin comes in a plastic coin envelope.

The Bank of England issued three shilling tokens, also known as bank tokens, during the reign of King George III. These coins were issued between 1811 and 1816 to address a shortage of silver coinage during the Napoleonic Wars. Although these tokens were produced by the Bank of England as a temporary solution, they were accepted as money during this period.

This Three Shillings token was struck in 0.925 silver. The obverse of this token features the laureate and cuirassed bust of King George III facing right, also known as the draped bust, with legend around. The reverse is completed with the legend above the denomination and date, all within an oak wreath.
