1812 King George III Silver One Shilling And Sixpence Bank Token Coin In Near Mint Condition.

This is a nice example with good detail.

There are extremely light surface marks on both sides of this coin.

This coin comes in a plastic coin envelope.

The Bank of England issued one shilling and sixpence tokens, also known as bank tokens. During the reign of King George III these were issued between 1811 and 1816 to address a shortage of silver coinage during the Napoleonic Wars. Although these tokens were produced by the Bank of England as a temporary solution, they were accepted as money during this period.

This One Shilling And Sixpence token was struck in 0.925 silver. The obverse of this token features the laureate and cuirassed bust of King George III facing right. This was also known as the draped bust. The reverse is completed with the legend above the denomination and date, all within an oak wreath.
