1745 LIMA King George II Silver Shilling Coin In Near Extremely Fine Or Better Condition.

There are extremely light surface marks on this coin.

The 1745 shilling was a coin struck in 0.925 silver in London by the Royal Mint under the reign of King George II. The Obverse features the older laureate and draped bust of King George II facing left with the legend around. The Reverse is completed with the crowned cruciform shields with central Garter star. The date is found divided at the top of the coin with legend around.

This coin was minted using silver captured from Spanish treasure ships in 1745. The ships were carrying silver mined and coined in Peru that was being shipped back to Spain when it was seized off the coast of Lima. The word “LIMA” engraved below the bust on the coin is a reference to its origins.
