The 1722 halfpenny was struck in copper by the Royal Mint. The obverse side of the coin features the laureate and cuirassed portrait of King George I facing right, with legend continuous over bust. The reverse depicts a seated figure of Britannia facing left, trident in left hand, olive branch in right, shield with Union flag resting on left, with legend around, and date in exergue.
