First Small ‘Dump’ Issue Farthing Coin.

This coin comes in a plastic coin envelope.

The 1717 copper farthing coin was struck in London and also know as the “Dump” issue.  The obverse side of the coin features the laureate bust of King George I facing right.  The reverse side of the coin depicts Britannia seated facing left, holding a spear and an olive branch, with a shield to the right. The inscription “BRITANNIA” surrounds Britannia, and the date “1717” is in the exergue.
