The 1701 halfpenny was struck in copper. The obverse side of the coin features the laureate bust of King William III facing right, with legend continuous over bust. The reverse depicts a seated figure of Britannia, facing left, with a shield, spear, and sprig of leaves and berries, with legend around, and date in exergue.
