There are surface marks on both sides. There is staining on the reverse. All details, date and legends are clearly visible.

The 1697 sixpence was a coin struck in 0.925 silver. The Obverse features the laureate and draped bust of King William III facing right, with legend around. The reverse is completed with the crowned cruciform shields around central lion rampant, divided date above, with legend around.
