The 1696 Crown is a coin struck in 0.925 silver by the Royal Mint. When struck the coin featured a portrait of King William III on the Obverse. A lion of Nassau in a cartouche surrounded by nine billets, four crowned shields of royal arms arranged cruciform, and an early harp with seven strings completes the design on the Reverse. Only four different dated crown coins were ever issued during the reign of King William III.
