The British gold quarter sovereign coin is a relatively new issue by the Royal Mint. The coin was struck in 22 carat gold, with a diameter of 13.50 millimetres and weighed 1.99 grams. In 2009 the Royal Mint reintroduced the quarter sovereign. These have become very popular amongst investors and collectors as there is no VAT or CGT applied to the quarter sovereign.
