British Copper And Bronze Halfpenny Coins
British Copper And Bronze Halfpenny Coins are collectable. The halfpenny had a value of four hundred and eighty to the pound. The first copper halfpenny coin was first issued under the reign of King Charles II in 1672. Between 1685 to 1687 three halfpennies were struck in tin with copper plugs. The halfpenny reverted back to and continued to be struck in copper up until 1860. In 1860 a new smaller, lighter and more practical halfpenny was struck in bronze. A final proof coin was struck in 1970 and the new halfpenny arrived along with decimalization in 1971, with the older coin phased out and ceasing to be legal tender from July 31, 1969.
