The 1907 D gold five dollar coin, also known as the half eagle. The coin features a Liberty head design (also know as the Coronet head) with the year-date below. The coin also has 13 stars around the perimeter. This obverse design was created by Christian Gobrecht and remained in use until 1908, when it was replaced by Bela Lyon Pratt’s Indian Head. The reverse is completed with an eagle and denomination below. The coin also includes the arms of the United States, the country name above the arms, and a motto in a ribbon. In all but the first year of issue, a mint mark is placed on the reverse below the eagle and above the word “FIVE”.
