The 1937 George VI Proof English Shilling coin was struck in 0.500 silver by the Royal Mint in the United Kingdom during the George VI era (1936-1952). This proof coin is struck in higher quality than the circulated coin. Both an English and Scottish shilling were issued in 1937. The reverse of the Scottish shilling features a a crowned lion passant atop crown dividing date, with legend above, and denomination below. A bare head of King George VI appears on the Obverse.
The official mintage of the English issue was 26,402.
