1896 Victoria Old Head Silver Halfcrown Coin In Fine Condition.

The date and legends are clear and readable. We would consider this coin a starter grade, it has been used with surface marks on both sides. There is an edge bruise on the reverse.

The 1896 Old head also know as the veiled head Halfrown is a coin struck in 0.925 silver by the Royal Mint. The obverse features a crowned, veiled, and draped bust of Queen Victoria facing right. The engraver’s initials, “T.B.”, are under the bust, which stands for Sir Thomas Brock. With the legend around.  The Reverse features a crowned, spade-shaped shield of royal arms within a ring. The date is below the shield and is divided by a small image of St George & the dragon. The legend reads “FID · DEF · IND · IMP” with “HALF CROWN” divided by the date.
