This coin was struck in 22 carat Gold and weigh approx. 39.94 grams. The equivalent of 1.177 ounces of fine Gold.

This 1997  five pounds, five sovereigns or quintuple sovereign was struck to celebrate the golden wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II & Prince Philip by the Royal Mint.

The Obverse features the conjoined heads of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, both facing right, with legend around. The reverse features the crown of St. Edward above shields bearing the Royal Arms and the Coat of Arms of Prince Philip, separated by an anchor.

Proof coins are hand-finished to create a flawless effect, and are often struck multiple times with specially prepared dies to achieve a mirrored finish and clarity of detail.
