The coin appears to have an overstruck 4 in the date. The date and legend is readable and clear. There are surface marks on this used coin.

The 1774 farthing was struck in copper by the Royal Mint. The obverse side of the coin features the laureate and cuirassed bust of King George III facing right, with legend around. The reverse features a seated figure of Britannia facing left, trident in left hand, olive branch in right, shield bearing the Union flag resting on left, with legend around, and date in exergue.
