1718 King George I Copper Dump Halfpenny Coin In Fair Condition.

The date and legend are readable but worn. The coin has edge damage and surface marks.

This coin comes in a plastic coin envelope.

The 1718 halfpenny was struck in copper by the Royal Mint. The obverse side of the coin features the laureate and cuirassed portrait of King George I facing right, with legend continuous over bust. The reverse depicts a seated figure of Britannia left, trident in left hand, olive branch in right, shield with Union flag resting on left, with legend around, and date in exergue.

This coin is often referred to as the ‘Dump’ Halfpenny. They are smaller, thicker, and lighter than the earlier halfpennies, and were produced under a new contract in 1717-1718.
