The 1887 five pounds or quintuple sovereign was struck in 22 carat gold. The obverse features the Jubilee effigy of Queen Victoria facing left, this portrait was issued to commemorate her Golden Jubilee. The Jubilee head was designed by J.E. Boehm. The reverse depicts St George slaying the dragon, with the date in exergue.
